The resident of Brisbane found himself the target of regular aerial attacks by a magpie, turning his daily bike commute into a thrilling adventure.

Working as a cook, Rios first encountered this aggressive feathered foe on September 20th when he felt an unexpected peck on the head during his routine ride home.

Initially, Alejandro was confused, comparing the surprise attack to a falling piece of fruit or even a potential prank. However, it didn’t take long for him to realize he had been specifically chosen as a target by this bird that attacked him countless times.

This relentless magpie has been persistent in its attacks, making Rios’s journey home an exciting event.

As he reveals to SWNS, the attacks soon became fun as he knew what to expect. Using a helmet during his rides, he stays alert to protect his eyes from the bird’s sharp beak.

Magpies are known for their ability to recognize and remember human faces. A study from Griffith University found that territorial birds even remember and target specific individuals.

Alejandro, who is from Cali, in Colombia, said the bird singles him out and doesn’t attack other pedestrians or cyclists. “I thought it hated me because I was on a bike, but then I saw it letting other cyclists pass without any problems,” he laughed.
